And not that physical and mental form don't interact: it's hard not to be distracted by one's physical limitations. Yet I suspect Descartes had it more than a little bit right: ideas in the mind inform the tangibles that we are and see in others.
I will break with what appears the norm on CL, and hold back on a physical description. I'll try to describe me as an idea. I feel challenged by my goal, as it is in itself a kind of adventure.
I'll begin by describing what I'm not: I'm not very literal. In another world I would be the court jester. This isn't saying anything too straight about my sincerity: it speaks more about finding a way to speak the truth without getting into a fight. Behind the artifice of impishness is a searcher, questioner, and sceptic, and someone to whom understanding on some visceral level is a priority. I generally believe our 'real' world is populated by the counterfactuals we fashion in our language and science. Perhaps if we're good we contribute memes. I love mathematics for its robustness and symmetry. "An equation is for eternity," as the Gypsy mystic said. I'm generally fascinated by how order comes about and how populations function differently than do individuals. Game theory is the queen of the sciences, with its play of emergence. Not to fear, though, that things are too simple: in simplicity is a googol of complexity.
There, that's a start. I would enjoy discussions something like this, and we can play as well in art, music, or history. I envision journies into the alpine wilderness, parading antics in social settings, mischief between the sheets, or even professional contacts. Likely you're more than 40, tomboyish, or at least not afraid to get your hands dirty, physiy and piquantly active, delightfully insouciant on occasion, and good at picking up allusions.
